205k miles, and it’s on BaT where it’s liable to be bid to a silly number. Someone has already posted a comment about how the 2.7TT is a ‘bullet proof’ engine.
But it’s a 6-speed with a solid body color (!), a tune, and a wood shift knob.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Maybe if it comes with a free intervention.

And here is the BEST idea of the day - though I would re-do the seats and move that battery.

Ha saw the Allr oad and came to post this.
Besides those 2 faults it's a really sweet build. Nailed the looks.

I almost made this one a separate post. I don’t really like updated interiors in ‘60s cars, but at least the dash kept the original look (essentially).
Battery placement just seems dumb. I would have preferred a 6-speed, but that’s not a dealbreaker.

an 18 year old audi with 204k that happens to be an All Road? Basically someone desperately needing a divorce buys this

But the engine is bulletproof ( per the comments).
Also you misspelled “ bankruptcy"

The engine itself is bulletproof, but everything around it falls apart.
Looks like it has the original turbos and still using the air suspension. Pass.

I must be crazy, because I’d do it.

Yeah, I find it amusing that someone commented about how bullet proof the engine was, when the turbos are apparently made of hand-blown glass. OK, it’s not part of the ‘engine’ but...
And that air suspension...

See, that’s the thing - there’s a lot to be tempted by here. I love the solid silver color (hate cladding), I like that it’s tastefully lowered, it’s a manual, a few upgrades, nice wood shift knob, etc.

I had no idea ‘bulletproof’ was a synonym for this:

The only first gen allroad I’d buy would have the belt-driven 4.2 and have the air suspension replaced with a good set of coilovers. It’s still a 5-speed Tip, but I feel it’s the way to go.

To be fair, I think that if you shot the 2.7 with a .22, from about 10 0 yards, and hit the beefiest part of the block, it would be okay - so ‘bullet proof’.
As long as you don’t, you know, *DRIVE* it.
![]() 02/12/2019 at 17:10 |

It is a little weird, kinda of a just had it laying around vibe to it.

Even if the engine is bulletproof, I would still add ab out $4k for an engine rebuild so that it stays that way. Because we are at materials failure point at 200k.
![]() 02/12/2019 at 17:15 |

Once you ditch the 2.7 and the air suspension, you’ve eliminated the two weakest links on the car at least.

You mean the interior? It’s in pretty good shape, it’s just not my taste.
![]() 02/12/2019 at 17:29 |

Honestly I would just run it until it pops and put something else (LS) in there.
But this is the sort of car that I think is cool, but I would never buy.
![]() 02/12/2019 at 17:39 |

Well, sure, but it’d go through all the plastic attached to it.
But hey, it’s not like you have to worry about the timing belt that requires removing the engine from the car in order to access it.
![]() 02/12/2019 at 19:35 |

Would make the bad decision. Just need the money and $10k operating cost
![]() 02/12/2019 at 19:38 |

I mean, it’s pretty and has the right transmission, right?
I love the stance and lack of cladding.
![]() 02/12/2019 at 20:24 |

Then just go buy an A6 wagon
![]() 02/13/2019 at 00:07 |

I thought the timing belt was accessible after you remove the nose? The 2.7 is a front belt, not a rear chain like the newer Audi mills. And it had a belt service recently anyway. You’d probably get at least a couple thou... hundred miles trouble free ;)

There was no A6 4.2 wagon sold in the US. J ust the S6 Avant and allroad 4.2. Of course the S6 is more desirable which makes the allroad the better bargain.
![]() 02/13/2019 at 07:55 |

unfortunately the Allroad with the 4.2 only had the auto trans.

Yep, as I said above.
Though there have been successful 6MT swaps into the S6 Avant, so it could be done for the allroad 4.2 as well.
